Emme's New Doo

Emme got a new haircut. Its very short, short, short! It is really nice because now she doesn't get matted so easily; her hair was getting out of control.

Mom went to take a nap and found Emme had taken over her spot; she had gotten down under the covers so all you could see was her head. Mom decided to take a nap on top of the covers so Emme wouldn't have to move. There never was a dog so spoiled.

Emme has a hobbie of leaping off the back of chairs. Well recently she sprained her ankle in her high flying acrobatics. The vet said we needed to keep her clam while it healed. I hope we will be able to sucessfully keep her from jumping off high places so she doesn't end up in a doggy cast like this poor pup.

The Biggest Loser

I have joined The Jensen/Wilhelm Family's Biggest Loser contest. So far I have lost 6.5 lb! The Goal is 10 lb. Watch out uncle Chuck, I just may win this thing! I am excited to be losing weight. My awesome aunt Shirley thinks we should have another round when this one is over. I think she is right! This is really great motivation and makes losing weight fun.

Stay Tuned for the results.

My New Ward

I started going to the singles branch on July 12th. I really love it. It is amazing how quiet the meetings are! The spirit is so strong there, especially when President Simpson speaks. I felt so uplifting and spiritually renewed my first week. I knew it was where I was supposed to be.

On July 26th I was the substitute teacher in Relief Society. It was my first time teaching an actual lesson and my first time with adults. I was a little nervous at the beginning and again at the end but all in all I thought it went okay.

I had a meeting with President Simpson after church and was waiting for my turn. The girl who came out of is office said how much she enjoyed my lesson. I thanked her and told her it was the first time I had ever taught a lesson. President Simpson heard me say that and when I got into his office he told me how impressed her was with my lesson and that he had thought I was a return missionary. I thought that was the most wonderful complement!!!

This last Sunday, August 2nd, I was called to be the 4th week Relief Society teacher. I am really excited for my new calling, especially since I get to teach from the general conference issue of the ensign.

Almost Over

The Spring Semester is almost over! I am very excited for Summer Semester... my last hard math class!!! As you may know I am planning to get my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Recently I have decided to add to that by getting my Masters in Communication. I just love my speech class; I have a wonderful teacher... she is really hard but I have learned a lot. I plan to become a public speaker later in life so I think it would be very beneficial to me.

For those of you who don't know I am waitressing at the IHoP Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. I really like it. I get to work with cool people and don't have to work on Sundays. I think I could waitress until I am done with school. So if you are hungry come see me at the IHoP! The Strawberry Banana Pancakes ROCK!!!!

I have recently made some new friends and am enjoying spending time with them. I have also attended a few Mid-Singles Adult church activities and have met some lovely girls and look forward to becoming friends. It’s been nice this semester to have a little free time for friends.

Sunday school singing time has been going great. Last week the kids were hopped up on their Easter candy and when I walked in the primary room the kids were literally running in circles around the room. My singing time activity was for kids to come up one at a time and pick a plastic egg with a song in it from the Easter basket. I quickly realized this wasn't going to be enough since they were so active so I changed the activity to include hide n seek on each song. Two kids would come up and one would go out of the room while the other hide the sticker somewhere in the room and then the other kid would come back in and we would sing until he found it. The closer he or she got to the sticker the louder we sang. It went over well and the kids had a lot of fun. Next Sunday we will be learning two new songs, one for the End of the year Primary program and one for the Mother's day program.

Well that’s my life in an Easter egg shell... school, work, church and a little fun. I hope you all enjoyed the Easter Holiday!

Love Lanie
